ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Alex Rodriguez froze for a moment after his sixth-inning swing, watching as his shot off Chris Archer soared over the left-center field fence.

In his second game since returning from the 15-day disabled list, A-Rod’s two-run homer capped a three-run sixth. And that was all the offense that Masahiro Tanaka and two relievers needed.

Tanaka tossed seven shutout innings, and the bullpen finished off a 4-1 win against the Rays before 14,697 fans at Tropicana Field.
