Just like a typical 10-year-old, Tim Cate was tinkering with an old toy, and found a new way to play with it.
He began making his baseball spin, round and round, faster and faster as the summers went by.
“I was taught not to snap the wrist, just let it fall off,” Cate said. “My dad told me that just as a precaution, to make sure nothing bad happened to my arm. In Little League, it’s something you just want to throw because it’s cool and a lot of kids like to throw it. I didn’t realize it was one of my best pitches until I matured a little.”
