NEW YORK — A bad day for the New York Yankees got even worse when Alex Rodriguez exited in the sixth inning. The slumping slugger finally got another hit — and then he got hurt.
Steven Souza Jr. homered twice on his 27th birthday and the Tampa Bay Rays went deep five times in all, tagging Michael Pineda in an 8-1 blowout Sunday.
"They didn't miss much," Yankees catcher Brian McCann said. "There were some balls that were middle. He made some pitches, then he left some over the plate."
