    LHP Jose Quintana is having difficulty in the middle innings of his starts. In each of the first four innings, his ERA totals are lower than 2.50. His ERA jumps to 4.62 in the fifth inning and to 5.23 in the sixth. His seventh-inning ERA dips back down to 3.72, but it's a smaller sample size because Quintana's pitch counts often drive him from the game before a full seven innings. "It doesn't look like that, but when you see numbers like that, obviously maybe location-wise he becomes a little bit off at that point (around the fifth)," manager Robin Ventura said. "But I would say most pitchers are ... like that. That's just part of being a starter and going that deep into the game."
