Lindisfarne, Majestic Affair win stakes races at Laurel
Lindisfarne broke quickly from the gate, backed off two challengers who raced to her inside and then powered by them down the stretch to win the $100,000 Marshua Stakes for 3-year-old fillies, the first of two stakes Thursday at Laurel Park. Majestic Affair dominated in the co-feature, taking the $100,000 Frank Whiteley Jr. Stakes for 3-year-olds. Both races were postponed Saturday because of snow. Lindisfarne, trained by Rudy Rodriguez and ridden by Victor Carrasco, won by 11/2 lengths, covering 6 furlongs in 1 minute, 11.40 seconds over the fast main track and paying $12.80 to win. Lake Sebago was second and Comforter third. Majestic Affair won by 53/4 lengths ahead of long shot Measured, who nipped Notional Debt for second. The winner, trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Kendrick Carmouche, covered the 7 furlongs in 1:23.88 and paid $2.40.
