Mets' Syndergaard loses bid for perfect game on hit in 7th

Mets rookie Noah Syndergaard has lost his bid for a perfect game when Will Venable singled on the first pitch of the seventh inning. Venable lined a clean single up the middle Tuesday night, and Syndergaard received a warm ovation from the Citi Field crowd. Yangervis Solarte followed with an infield single, but Syndergaard pitched out of trouble without any damage. The hard-throwing righty had struck out seven in his 14th major league start.
