Claire Smith left the baseball meetings in Maryland on Friday morning and she had a stop to make on her way home to Ellington. It was St. Mark's Cemetery in Bristol, Pa.
"I just left the flowers that ESPN gave me and the roses Bob Nightengale of USA Today gave me, at my parents' grave," said Smith, who Tuesday was named the winner of the J.G. Taylor Spink Award. "Forgive me. I'm pretty emotional right now."
