Bangor youth group to honor three former football standouts

The high school football season begins a week from Friday. But for the folks in the Bangor community, the football season begins Sunday afternoon on Paul Farnan Field at Bangor Memorial Park. That's when the Slaters Youth Football Association will retire the numbers of past Bangor standouts Douglas Comunale (32), David Hopstetter (33) and Todd Strohe (83). All three men are deceased, but they have left a legacy in the Slate Belt. The ceremony will begin at approximately 2 p.m. following the Junior Pee Wee division game between Wilson and Bangor. The three all-time Slaters greats will be recognized for their contributions to the youth and high school level athletic programs as well...
