Few journalists have been so distinctly identified with a sport. For a generation of tennis fans, Bud Collins was the voice and the face of the sport. But Collins, who died Friday, was so much more than a TV commentator. He's remembered for his wit and intelligence, his colorful wardrobe and easy demeanor. And to many in New England sports journalism circles, he was a newspaper guy at his core.
