GLENDALE, Ariz. — Geovany Soto liked the idea of returning to Chicago, and he liked even more the idea of joining a White Sox team he thinks is headed in the right direction.
Soto, the 2008 National League Rookie of the Year with the Cubs, jumped at a minor league deal with the Sox and a chance to prove he's healthy and ready to help a club in need of improvement at catcher.
"They have a good core," Soto said. "They brought up some guys and have some depth, and we feel like we can compete and win. It's a lot of great guys here in the clubhouse, and I'm anxious to get out there."
