Cubs continue pitching push

Friday’s trade deadline is less than seven hours away, but the Chicago Cubs remain determined to address their pitching needs. In addition to talks with the San Diego Padres, the Cubs have inquired about Cleveland Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Carrasco, 28, is 11-8 with a 4.03 ERA in 21 starts for the Indians, who currently are in last place. Carrasco was considered one of the top prospects in the Philadelphia Phillies’ organization before he was dealt as part of a multi-player trade involving Cliff Lee near the 2009 trade deadline.
