Orioles notebook: Catcher Matt Wieters says hamstring is looser, doesn't expect to go on DL

The Orioles added depth behind the plate by calling up catcher Steve Clevenger before Friday’s game. With catcher Matt Wieters resting an injured right hamstring, the Orioles had to play Wednesday’s game with Caleb Joseph as the only healthy catcher. Clevenger said he got the call around noon Thursday, but he hadn’t talked with manager Buck Showalter before Friday’s game about what role he will play while he is called up. Clevenger is hitting .305 with 32 RBIs in 75 games for Triple-A Norfolk this season.
