Royals sign veteran pitchers Joba Chamberlain, Wandy Rodriguez to minor-league deals

The Royals bolstered their organizational depth by signing a pair of fading pitchers to minor-league deals, adding righty Joba Chamberlain and lefty Wandy Rodriguez to the roster for Class AAA Omaha. The team finalized both contracts on Sunday. Chamberlain, a 29-year-old former phenom, was released by Toronto on Friday. Chamberlain gave up 10 runs in five innings pitching for the Class AAA Buffalo Bisons. Earlier in the year, Detroit released him after Chamberlain stumbled to a 4.09 ERA in 30 appearances.
