Simon hurls shutout in Tigers' 4-0 win over Rangers

DETROIT On a day when the Detroit Tigers lost two-fifths of their starting rotation to the disabled list, right-handed starter Alfredo Simon had his best start since mid-April. Simon pitched a complete-game shutout, limiting the Rangers to one hit and two walks with five strikeouts. The Tigers went on to beat the Rangers, 4-0, Thursday in front of 33,727 at Comerica Park. It was the third time this season that Simon has not allowed a run in a start and the first time he's pitched at least eight shutout innings since a 1-0 win at Pittsburgh on April 15, his second start of the season. Right-handed pitcher Anibal Sanchez went on the disabled list with a right rotator cuff strain....
