Big 3rd paces Tigers back to .500 with win over Mariners

DETROIT The Tigers move back to .500 on Wednesday after a 9-4 victory over the Mariners, nearly a week before the trade deadline where the speculation is the franchise accustomed to postseason play will be open to sell off talent. The victory comes one night after the Tigers overcame a four-run deficit in the first inning and take an 8-7 lead in the seventh inning only to see a bullpen implosion in a five-run eighth on the way to an 11-9 loss. Raj Davis got the third inning going on Wednesday with a full-count walk against Mariners starter Mike Montgomery.
