— Labor leaders and a community advocacy group on Tuesday praised the state's conditions on a deal between the nonprofit Waterbury Hospital and a for-profit Texas hospital chain that wants to buy it.
However, the conditions could change before the state Office of Health Care Access makes its final decision Dec. 17, and that worries some union representatives.
At stake is a joint venture between the Greater Waterbury Health Network, parent company of Waterbury Hospital, and Vanguard Health Systems, a subsidiary of Tenet Healthcare Corp. of Dallas, Texas. Tenet wants to buy the hospital's assets.
