The Philadelphia 76ers announced Saturday that right knee soreness experienced by rookie guard Michael Carter-Williams was caused by a skin infection.
Carter-Williams was treated at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for the infection and is under the care of head team physician Dr. Brian Sennett and infectious disease specialist Dr. Neil Fishman.
Carter-Williams, the NBA Eastern Conference rookie of the month for November, sat out Friday's 105-88 loss to the Charlotte Bobcats. He is averaging 7.7 points, 7.3 assists and 5.8 rebounds through 15 games. He also missed four games in mid-November due to a left foot injury.
