"Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh is taking flight again -- this time in The CW's comic-book drama "Arrow."
Routh is set to play the recurring role of Ray Palmer, also known as The Atom, in the show's third season. His character is a scientist and inventor that will have an unexpected yet mysterious role in the lives of Oliver and Felicity.
Many fans got a taste of Routh as a superhero when he played the Man of Steel in 2006's "Superman Returns." He also appeared on network TV in NBC's "Chuck" and CBS' "Partners." Most recently, he had a guest role on Fox's "Enlisted."
Routh is the latest star joining the "Arrow" cast in season three: Devon Aoki will playing Tatsu Yamashiro, AKA martial arts expert Katana; Karl Yune will appear as Tatsu's husband, Maseo Yamashiro; and Peter Stormare will inherit the mantle of Count Vertigo after the Arrow killed the previous purveyor of the dangerous drug. The show returns Oct. 8 on The CW.
