Ariana Grande is the first performer to be announced for this year's MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 24.
The pop singer and "Sam and Cat" star announced the news today at MTV's special revival of "Total Request Live," renamed "Total Ariana Live" for the occasion. She also premiered "Break Free," a collaborative single with electronic producer Zedd that she will perform live at the awards.
This will be Grande's first time performing on the main stage at the VMAs. She appeared on the red carpet pre-show last year where she sang a medley of her hits "Baby I" and "The Way."
Grande's second studio album "My Everything" is scheduled to release on Aug. 25, the day after the VMAs. Her first album, "Yours Truly," garnered positive reception from critics and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200.
The MTV Video Music Awards will broadcast live from the Forum in Inglewood, Calif.
