John Hawkes, the Oscar-nominated actor who has appeared in films including "Winter's Bone" and "The Sessions," will appear Off Broadway in Manhattan Theater Club's world premiere of "Lost Lake," the new play by "Proof" scribe David Auburn.

He'll star alongside Tracie Thoms, whose screen credits include TV skein "Cold Case" and movies "Rent" and "Grindhouse."

"Lost Lake" will mark Hawkes' first time on the Gotham boards since he appeared in the annual "24 Hour Plays" for one night only in 2006. Thoms has worked on Broadway in shows including "Drowning Crow" (also an MTC production) and "Stick Fly."

Storyline of "Lost Lake" centers on a woman (Thoms) whose lakeside retreat with her children is complicated when she become entangled in the problems of her rental property's owner (Hawkes).

"Lost Lake" starts previews Oct. 21 ahead of a Nov. 11 opening at City Center. MTC's Broadway season kicks off in September with Donald Margulies' "The Country House," in a world preem production that stars Blythe Danner.
