Toronto mayor Rob Ford will take a leave of absence from office to enter a substance abuse program, according to the Associated Press.

The embattled politician, who is in the middle of a re-election campaign, was recorded swearing and ranting at a local bar Monday night.

"He was really wasted," one witness told the Toronto Sun. "And he was acting like a real ass."

Ford acknowledged to the paper that he has a problem and is "ready to take a break."

The mayor, who recently starred in a reality show on the Sun News Network, was allegedly filmed smoking crack cocaine on camera last year.
