A 24-hour television channel dedicated to round-the-clock coverage of Oscar Pistorius' murder trial will be launched in March, the South African cable provider MultiChoice announced Wednesday.
The network will go on air just one day before the double-amputee Olympian "Bladerunner" faces charges March 3 for shooting and killing his 29 year-old girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year. While the case has captivated media around the world, interest is particularly high in his home country.
Pistorius faces life imprisonment with at least 25 years before parole if convicted for premeditated murder. South Africa does not have the death penalty, and Judge Masipa will ultimately pronounce Pistorious innocent or guilty, as the country does not have trial by jury.
