David Fincher's anticipated screen adaptation of "Gone Girl" is set to be released on Oct. 3, 2014, according to Fox.
The early October slot will give the film, which is currently in production, the possibility of an awards season push. Based on Gillian Flynn's bestselling novel, the thriller stars Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit and Carrie Coon.
20th Century Fox pic about a woman who disappears on her fifth anniversary will face off against Gary Shore's vampire movie "Dracula Untold" opening on the same date. It's the same weekend on which Fincher's "The Social Network" opened in 2010.
