Lizzy Caplan is in talks for the female lead in the upcoming Sony comedy "The Interview," which stars Seth Rogen and James Franco.

Rogen and Evan Goldberg are writing and directing the project.

The story follows a talk show host and his producer who are unwittingly caught up in an international assassination plot.

Rogen, Goldberg and James Weaver are producing the pic through their Point Grey Pictures banner. The shingle is coming off one of its biggest hits; "This is the End" recently grossed more than a $100 million at the box office.

The casting marks a mini-reunion between the three actors who worked together on "Freaks and Geeks" before the show was cancelled.

Caplan can currently be seen in Showtime's "Masters of Sex." She is repped by WME, Mosaic and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum Morris & Klein.
