Sony Pictures and Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures will partner on the new R-rated animated film "Sausage Party" from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
Directed by Conrad Vernon ("Monsters vs. Aliens") and Greg Tiernan, "Sausage Party" is a raunchy animated movie about one sausage's quest to discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, the hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale.
Jonah Hill, James Weaver, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shaffir are exec producing.
"We're thrilled to be back in business with Seth and Evan," Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad said in a statement. "This project has all the irreverent, insightful and risquÃ© R-rated humor we have come to expect from them."
Written by Rogen, Goldberg, Hunter & Ariel Shaffir, "Sausage Party" is eyeing a 2015 release and will be co-financed by Sony and Annapurna, with Point Grey also producing.
Rogen and Goldberg most recently wrote and directed the $100 million hit "This Is The End" for Sony.
