Sony's on-lot post services.
McCarthy, who also has the title exec VP, post-production services, will take over supervision of the entire sound department, reporting to Randy Lake, exec VP and general manager, Sony Pictures Digital Productions. Lake oversees Sony Pictures Imageworks, Sony Colorworks and the sound department. All post-production services were moved under SPDP and its president, Bob Osher, earlier this year.
Boston native Branca started his career in 1980 in the sound department at MGM. After stints at Lorimar, Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros., he joined Sony Pictures in 1990 as director of sound, video and projection.
Martin said in a statement: "It has been a privilege to work with Richard over the years. Together we built one of the best sound departments in the industry, and I join with the management at Sony Pictures Studios in wishing him the very best in his future endeavors."
