The recipe calls for precooked lasagna sheets. We use the Barilla brand, which is available in supermarkets.
Each sheet measures 6 3 / 4-by-3 1 / 2 inches. To fill a disposable aluminum13 1 / 2-by-9 5 / 8-by-2 3 / 4-inch lasagna pan you need 20 sheets or 1 1 / 4 boxes.
Anyone who has made lasagna knows it takes time to assemble. First timers can be assured that none of the steps is difficult, and a delicious dinner can be ready in under 2 hours. Just add crusty bread and a salad.
I have been meaning to write you for some time in the hopes you would be able to find an old, old recipe our mother used to make when my brothers and I were growing up. It was something she called hamburger pie. We remembered she sometimes put some chili powder in it, but I always preferred it without. Does that ring a bell with you? We do have a recipe we call Cheeseburger Pie that just might be the one Stocker and her brothers remember. Chili powder is listed as an optional ingredient for those who like something with a bit more bite. Though this hearty "pie" is always popular with the younger crowd, we don't know any adults who will turn it down.
