During a discussion of the Miami Dolphins’ upcoming exposure on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” on his WQAM radio show this morning, the always insightful Joe Rose offered to some storyline ideas to NFL Films producer Ross Ketover. His first suggestion was to find some camera time for new Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill and his extraordinarily talented wife, Lauren.
Ketover’s polite reply, which did not begin “Thank you, Captain Obvious,” ended with the astonishing declaration that HBO would definitely find time for the “first family” of South Florida sports. Now, even assuming he meant this in terms of mere physical beauty … Really, Ross?
Just off the top of our head, here are five South Florida sports figures and their significant others that would be right at home in front of HBO cameras:
Scottie Upshall and Melanie Collins: Feel free to suggest that the Florida Panthers sharpshooter is in way over his head with Collins, who has been seen as a sideline reporter for NBA-TV, PGA.com and MLB.com.
Chris Bosh and Adrienne Williams: He spent $300,000 on their Fontainebleau Hotel wedding ceremony last summer for a reason.
Reggie Bush and … anybody. His taste is impeccable. Yes, it is.
