Former Rutgers and University School linebacker Nick Internicola will transfer to FAU and re-unite with his high school coach Roger Harriott.

The linebacker announced his decision on his Twitter account late Saturday night.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound linebacker did not play in a game for Rutgers last season, but told NJ.com that the transfer is not football related, but rather an unspecified family-related issue.

"I had to be closer to home to do what's best for my family," Internicola told NJ.com. "Things just got progressively worse, so I had to make my move when I had the chance. The football season ended. I wasn't going to quit during the middle of a season. It was just perfect timing and it happened when it happened."

The family-related issue could make Internicola eligible for an NCAA transfer waiver, which would allow Internicola to play immediately upon enrolling at FAU.
