Two massive lottery jackpots hit Wednesday night: Powerball had a single winner of its $337 million prize, while four players will share the $17 million Florida Lotto loot.

A late surge of ticket sales pushed Powerball's jackpot to $337 million, making it just barely the largest of the year (the previous was $336.4 million.) The magic Powerball numbers were 6-27-46-51-56 with a Powerball of 21. But alas, no winner here in Florida; it hit in Michigan at a Sunoco gas station in Lapeer, Mich., about 45 miles north of Detroit.

If the winner takes the lump-sum cash payment, it'll be $224 million.

Meanwhile, the Florida Lotto (3-7-10-19-24-27) had winners in Apopka, Fort Myers, Palatka and Stuart. (Kind of odd we don't see Miami, St. Petersburg, Orlando or even Jacksonville in there, eh?) The venues: Publix, 15880 Summerlin Road, Fort Myers; Racetrac, 1755 NW Federal Highway, Stuart; Sunoco, 2600 Reid Street, Palatka; Kangaroo Express, 1500 N. Wekiva Springs Road, Apopka.

Both lotteries had drawn blanks since June. Powerball hadn't hit since June 23 and hasn't been won in Florida since Feb. 26, 2011. The Florida Lotto last hit on June 30, for $3 million.

Earlier this year, the largest lottery jackpot of all-time hit when MegaMillions paid out $656 million to three winners. This Powerball jackpot is the third-largest in the game's history.
