Warfield served as the Browns' senior advisor to the general manager since 2004. His main responsibilities included college scouting, talent evaluation and special projects.
Warfield, an eight-time Pro Bowl player, spent five seasons with the Dolphins (1970-1974), catching 156 passes for 3,355 yards (21.5 average) and 33 touchdowns.
A member of the Dolphins' 1972 and 1973 Super Bowl championship teams, Warfield is one of only three Dolphins to score four touchdowns in a game, joining Mark Ingram (1994 against the New York Jets) and Ronnie Brown (2008 against New England).
His career receiving totals are: 427 catches, 8,565 yards (20.1 average) and 85 touchdowns.
He was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1983.
