Aldermen sign off on $56 million project

Elmhurst City Council members this week approved a redevelopment agreement for a $56 million project that is to bring 192 rental apartments and 12,000 square feet of retail space to the north end of downtown. The project, referred to as North District, will cover a nearly three-acre site between York Street and Addison Avenue on both sides of what is now Hahn Street south of the existing Panera Bread restaurant. The structure, six stories on the York side and three stories on Addison, will include 330 private parking spaces for renters and 150 public parking spaces.
