    The carnage continues. Because police have become sporadic in notifying City Paper of homicides, we have missed a couple over the past several weeks. They are included in the “update” section below but are not counted in the “this week” tally, as they should have been tallied previously. The “this year” count includes them both, even though only one of them happened this year. That is because of a quirk in the counting system the police use, which counts homicides when the department gets cause-of-death notification from the state medical examiner. This week’s count was assembled from a combination of police, other media, and funeral home and court sources.
