WASHINGTON, D.C. - Kristi Noem ended all Senate rumors Tuesday by announcing her intention to run for re-election to the House seat she has held since 2011.
Noem made the announcement on her Facebook page just before 3:30 PM MDT.
"I am grateful to everyone who has encouraged me and pledged support for a potential campaign for the U.S. Senate. However, after spending the weekend discussing our future with Bryon and our children, we decided that right now we are in the best position to serve South Dakota as a member of the U.S. House," Noem explained in her Facebook post.
Noem had been talked about as a potential candidate against Mike Rounds in the 2014 Republican primary for the U.S. Senate seat. Incumbent Tim Johnson (D) previously announced he will retire at the end of his term.
