Manchester resident wins national award

MANCHESTER - Lisa Berthiaume, past exalted ruler of Manchester Elks' Lodge No. 1893 and the Connecticut Elks Association's State Drug Awareness Program (DAP) chairman, was recently honored with the "Crystal Elk" at the 150th Elks National Convention held in New Orleans, The award was in recognition for her leadership and outstanding performance as Drug Awareness Prevention and Education Program State Chairman.

Lisa, along with four district chairmen and a chairman from each of the 33 Lodges, execute the drug awareness program. Lisa trains these chairmen and assists the lodges in developing local programs applicable to each community. She also coordinates with school administrators, plans and executes the state-wide tours delivering outstanding nationally recognized speakers directly into the school systems.
