EAST HARTFORD - The East Hartford Public Library's popular museum pass program is now available online through the library website. While people can still reserve museum passes in person or by phone, anyone with Internet access can reserve their pass on-line up to 30 days in advance. As an added feature for select museums, people will be able to make their reservation and instantly print a museum pass; there's no need to pick up or return the pass and no deposit is necessary. People who don't have a printer at home can print their pass at the library. The library currently offers 26 museum passes to choose from including a parking pass under the state's No Child Left Inside initiative that allows vehicles with up to 12 passengers to park for free in any of Connecticut's state parks. The participating museums offer free or discounted admission for one day, usually for two adults and at least two children. Passes can be checked out by anyone with a valid library card.
The Print on Demand passes are available for the Basketball Hall of Fame; the Children's Museum; Connecticut Historical Society Museum and Library; Connecticut Old State House; Connecticut Trolley Museum; Discovery Museum and Planetarium; Eric Carle Museum; Harriet Beecher Stowe Center; Hill-Stead Museum; Imagination Nation Museum; Lutz Children's Museum; Mark Twain House; Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center; New Britain Museum of American Art; New England Air Museum; Peabody Museum of Natural History; Roger Williams Park Zoo; Springfield museums; and the Wadsworth Atheneum. Library staff is currently working to negotiate even more print on demand options from the other locations that participate in the museum pass program. For more information, call the East Hartford Public Library at 860-290-4332, or visit http://www.ehtfdlib.info. The museum pass program is listed under the link for the children's department.
