  • Tiger lilies also aren't native and are less invasive

Q: I am a volunteer who is taking care of the Revolutionary War Memorial site at First and Market. The site is also referred to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This summer I noticed plants that were coming up out of the brush behind the fence and another growing out of the cylinder portion of the guardrail. They have been identified as a type of tiger lily that was popular years ago. I would like to preserve these flowers and replant them in the site. One plant I can dig up the other two are behind a fence. I read by gathering the black seed like bulbs on the stems can be saved and potted to start seedlings, but no directions were given. Any suggestions?
