Two men were stabbed to death in separate incidents in Chicago in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death Monday in the 600 block of West Stratford Place in Lakeview, police said. Four days earlier, a 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in the 10200 block of South Crandon Avenue in South Deering, officials said.
Nine people have been stabbed to death in Chicago homicides so far this year, a RedEye analysis found. Stabbings account for nearly 12 percent of the 76 homicides in the city in 2012, as of presstime.
Six percent of the 441 homicides last year were stabbings, RedEye data shows.
Meanwhile, February ended last week with 28 homicides, up from 25 homicides in February 2011, RedEye determined.
Eight homicides have been recorded so far this month. Police logged 22 homicides in March last year, RedEye found.
