Two women and a man were stabbed to death in separate incidents in the last week in Chicago, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
On Tuesday, a 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the 4600 block of South Lake Park Avenue in Kenwood, police said. One day earlier, a 51-year-old man was found fatally stabbed in the 900 block of East 104th Street in Pullman, officials said.
On Friday, a 58-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the 4200 block of West Cermak Road in North Lawndale, police said.
Nineteen fatal stabbings have been recorded so far this year, about 11 percent of the 169 homicides logged as of Wednesday afternoon, RedEye data shows.
Last year, fatal stabbings accounted for about 6 percent of the 442 homicides recorded in Chicago, according to RedEye data.
Meanwhile, a woman was found strangled to death Saturday in the 5600 block of North Broadway in Edgewater, officials said.
In Washington Heights, two men ages 20 and 26 were shot to death May 3 in the 9000 block of South Racine Avenue, officials said.
Eleven homicides have been recorded so far this month. Thirty-nine homicides were logged in May 2011, according to RedEye data.
