Grand Boulevard and Irving Park in the last week recorded their second homicides of the month, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
In Grand Boulevard, a 15-year-old boy was shot to death Monday in the 700 block of East 50th Street, police said.
Grand Boulevard has logged four homicides so far this year. The South Side community area recorded eight homicides last year, according to RedEye data.
In Irving Park, a 34-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in the 3400 block of West Irving Park Road, officials said.
Irving Park has logged two homicides so far this year. The Northwest Side community area recorded one homicide last year, RedEye determined.
Citywide, gunshot homicides were logged in the last week in Austin and New City, according to police information.
Eighteen homicides have been recorded so far this month. Forty-one homicides were logged in April 2012, RedEye determined.
