  • Eldridge and Johnson will face off in District 49

    On July 23, Windham Mayor Ernest Eldridge made official his candidacy for state representative for the 49th district. During an event outside Town Hall, Eldridge announced that he would run against incumbent Susan Johnson (D-49) as a member of The Bottom Line party. On July 25, between making his mayorly rounds of the pop-up farmer's market at Jillson Square and reading a story to children gathered at the Natchaug School, Eldridge paused to talk a bit about his candidacy. It is this feet-on-the-ground involvement in the community that supporters feel would make Eldridge very effective in the House; Eldridge plans to continue his role as mayor if successful in capturing the seat.
