    Ted Talk
This from The Hill, the publication that covers all things Washington politics, quoting Bloomberg News about the Ted Cruz-engineered government shutdown: “The government shutdown cost the nation’s economy at least $24 billion and shaved 0.6 percent off the nation’s economic growth,” according to new analysis from Standard & Poor’s. “The bottom line is the government shutdown has hurt the U.S. economy,” the firm said. Ted Cruz has a snowball’s chance in South Beach of being our next president, but political egos know no limits. I could continue to use the clown car metaphor for a few weeks as those other contenders emerge, but it might get boring. I mean, this gaggle of Republicans is boring enough without adding to it. In other words, unelectable to the rest of the country’s Republican primary voters.

As a young guy, he was tough on crime. It was one of the ways he built his reputation. President George H.W. Bush came to Connecticut and said this about him: "He's tough on crime. He's been a strong supporter of our comprehensive crime bill, a bill...
