    The latest poll in the governor's race shows a close contest between Gov. Malloy and Republican challenger Tom Foley. There was no mention of ol' what's-his-name. I’ve long advised people to lie to political pollsters. I know, it sounds nasty, but it’s the only way to make politicians stop relying on polls. If polls become so completely unreliable they are useless, politicians will be forced to make decisions based on courage and their beliefs. They’ll have to campaign with words that have meaning and not words that were gleaned from some professional pollster’s checked boxes. Instead of reading the latest numbers on any particular issue before casting their votes, or writing laws, our elected representatives will have to vote their convictions. Well, maybe “convictions” is the wrong word to use with Connecticut politicians, but you know what I mean.
