    To the editor: I commend the Legislature for passing and the governor for signing the bill requiring “children entering school or day care to be vaccinated against measles, mumps, whooping cough and other diseases. (“Law's foes refuse to quit,” July 4) Parents will no longer be able to cite religious or personal beliefs in seeking exemptions.”I am 88 years old, and I still mourn the loss of my 22-month-old son who died in 1955 due to influenza meningitis. At that time, there was not a vaccine. He got sick at noon on Sunday and was dead on Monday afternoon.
