    When Gov. Rick Scott invited GOP presidential candidates to Orlando to talk about their ideas at the Economic Growth Summit this past week, the conversation, not surprisingly, included discussion about our nation's fiscal challenges. There will not be robust economic growth in the long term if we don't address the debt. Under current law, the debt held by the public is scheduled to increase from $13 trillion, or 74 percent of gross domestic product today, to $21 trillion, or 77 percent of GDP by 2025, and will continue to grow faster than the economy. Interest payments on the debt are the single fastest-growing item in the budget.
