    As a registered Republican and lifetime resident of Baltimore City, I can only hope that Maryland GOP Chairman Diana Waterman was just being nice when she welcomed Circuit Court clerk Frank M. Conaway Sr. to the party ("Clerk Conaway switches to the GOP," Dec. 5). We might be hard up for members in the city GOP but we do not need an opportunistic clown like Mr. Conaway. This is just a ruse for him to win any future primary and face a Democrat in a general election.
