Attorney General George Jepsen Will Not Seek Re-Election

In a surprising move likely to set off a scramble among ambitious politicians across the state, Connecticut Attorney General George Jepsen announced Monday he will not run for re-election in 2018.

Jepsen, a soft-spoken Democrat who has held the office since 2011, said neither health issues nor a job offer spurred his decision. He said he has been pondering his future for several months but only settled on a plan after consulting with his family over the Thanksgiving weekend.
