Officials Describe Financial Burdens At Manchester, Rockville Hospitals

MANCHESTER — The increasing burden of taxes, debt and regulations are drowning the nonprofit organization that runs Manchester Memorial and Rockville General hospitals, representatives of the health-care group said Tuesday at a public hearing on the group's pending sale to a for-profit organization.

"I can't express enough the dire situation we are in," Eastern Connecticut Health Network President and CEO Peter J. Karl told state hearing officers at the Manchester Country Club.
