National Democrats are setting their sights on an attention-grabbing name to replace Elizabeth Esty on the ticket in the 5th District — one of the best pick-up opportunities for Republicans this year in Congress.
In recent days, Nicole Hockley and Mark Barden, who both lost children in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, have discussed the race with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
