I will not defend the sexual relationship that then-U.S. congressional candidate Mel Reynolds had with a campaign volunteer in 1992. He was 40 and married. She was 16. It was a crime. Reynolds was convicted in 1995 on sexual abuse and related charges, then sentenced to five years in prison. He resigned his House seat, and his once-promising life more or less spiraled down from there.
